Born This Way illustrates for young gay kids that there are plenty of others like them who grew up realizing they were different, and it affirms that they can be themselves and still lead healthy and happy lives.
The book calls on all of society to reflect on the words we say, the people we mock and the reasons we do it. But more importantly, it tells these young people to embrace themselves, and remember: they were born this way.

You probably know Paul Vitagliano’s blog BORN THIS WAY – a steady voice and platform of childhood memories growing up LGBTQ. Now there is a wonderful printed volume by QUIRK BOOKS as well and I was happy enough to get in my hands:
100 stories and pictures of beautiful boys and girls, sharing their memories: of the day the picture was taken, about love and support, about denial, fear and loneliness, about strength and struggle and life itself. No matter what, everybody of these lovely kids was definitely born this way. I’m still all goosebumps when looking at these pictures – and I looked a lot by now. I have fallen in love with some of them, you might have guessed that from the pics above. They are amazing. So – run and get a copy:
